Data Center-Network Engineer (Facebook)

Facebook’s data center footprint is constantly growing to adapt to the vast amount of new services we provide to people. This results in a dramatic scaling challenge that our engineers face on a daily basis. Not only do we need to build and evolve the physical infrastructure that connects myriads of servers together, but also ensure that the network is running smoothly and meets strict performance goals. With the introduction of our own switching software (FBOSS) and our open networking hardware projects (Wedge, Wedge100 and Backpack) we have entered into a new era of unprecedented opportunities to re-think traditional networking and iterate quickly in an area that was previously very closed to innovation. Facebook’s Edge & Network Service (ENS) team is actively looking for passionate people to help us tackle the unique set of challenges and opportunities we face, while contributing to our company mission of connecting the world.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject-matter expertise regarding data center network planning, architecture and standards.
  • Interface and align with all of our network/software engineering teams and act as point of contact for every new data center network projects. Shape solutions through early and active involvement in project and product lifecycles.
  • Create deployment packages and standards to ensure global consistency
  • Make solid network recommendations to best facilitate ongoing company technology projects
  • Help growing other people by giving trainings and mentorship
  • Contribution on development & deployment of numerous technologies and network topologies in order to evolve and scale our data centers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support the regional network infrastructure 24×7
  • 10% of travel required, up to 30% based on projects.

Minimum Qualification

  • 5+ years of experience in TCP, IP[v4|v6], BGP and related protocols.
  • 3+ years of experience in structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure – their application and limitations within the datacenter space
  • Knowledge of optical ethernet technologies and their evolution
  • Understanding of network hardware platforms and their specifications in the datacenter space
  • Experience troubleshooting common network issues
  • Time management and communication skills
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver against mission critical deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced global team environments and solve problems with limited supervision.

Data Center Capacity Manager (Facebook)

Facebook seeks a forward-thinking, experienced manager with great leadership skills and technical flair, to join our Data Center Operations team. The person should enjoy working in a fast-paced, technical environment, where adaptability and flexibility is key to their success. Having depth and breadth of knowledge of managing people and delivering to business needs is a core competency of this individual. This position is full-time and will be based in Odense Datacenter, Odense.

The Capacity Team is responsible for how we plan, add, change and remove computing capacity to and from our data center fleet. This person will lead this team and is expected to have strong planning and project management experience as this team will manage and execute multiple, complex infrastructure projects within the data center in parallel, including capacity planning, installations, retrofits, hardware retirement, data eradication and service migrations. This person should also have strong people management, leadership and development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for establishing and managing a Data Center Capacity Team responsible for the IT capacity life cycle.
  • Responsible for managing and delivery of capacity from the data center site and for ensuring operational delivery through partnership with both remote and local peer organizations to support ongoing business growth
  • Track issues, analyze data looking for trends and reporting out globally
  • Collaborating globally to develop and implement process improvements in data center operations
  • Build, grow, mentor and lead a team of engineers
  • Create and drive a culture of safety, ownership, innovation, collaboration and accountability
  • Be forward thinking by understanding data center growth, identifying scaling issues before they occur and contributing to solutions
  • Support the team in the generation of specifications, and ideas for process and software automation improvements that facilitate the deployment and retirement of server hardware at scale

Minimum Qualification

  • BS or BA in technical field or commensurate experience
  • 4+ years experience of managing teams, training, mentoring and leading engineers and technicians
  • 4+ years of experience operating in bigger technical environments
  • 4+ years experience of managing cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Time, resource and project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills and experience

Data Center Technician (Netcompany Operations)

Are you dedicated to operate Netcompany’s biggest business critical solutions, and do you have experience working in a modern data center?

Then you might be the data center technician Netcompany is looking for.

As a data center technician you will become a part of Netcompany Operations, which is a wellestablished and ambitious operational organisation with approximately 90 technicians, who are responsible for society and business critical operation of applications and the management of  infrastructure in four topmodern data centers.

You will be based in our data centers in Ballerup, Glostrup and Valby, where you will have the responsibility for all the hardware, including set-up and demounting operational components. One of the tasks will also be to develop and maintain a data center infrastructure system (DCIM), which enable us to keep track of our data centers.

Primary tasks include: 

  • Being responsible for the data centers’ daily operation, including dialogue with suppliers and a constant focus on capacity and quality
  • Planning and execution of technical projects in the data centers, including project engineering and management of major extensions
  • Being responsible for developing standards for processes in data centers
  • Replacement of hardware
  • Management of wiring, including establishment, return cabling and troubleshooting
  • Close collaboration with colleagues in Operations

Data Center Consultant (Business Esbjerg)

New transatlantic fiberoptic connections will be established on the west coast of Denmark during 2020. The area around Esbjerg therefore offers unique opportunities to become Northern Europe’s most important digital hub, which is why Business Esbjerg seeks to strenghten its efforts within this area.

Business Esbjerg is looking for a consultant who can attract new data center investments to Esbjerg.

Responsibilities

  • A strong outreaching sales effort that aims at strengthening and developing an important business area in Business Esbjerg in order to attract new national and international data center investments.
  • Profiling and selling the area of Esbjerg as an important digital hub through organizing and attending trade fairs and visits in Denmark and abroad.
  • Working with the creation of a new business cluster that includes all types of IT and data related business in the area
  • Active communicative efforts that ensure that Esbjerg is top of mind within Danish and international digital companies and business partners.
  • Expanding your own and Business Esbjerg’s network in the IT industry, both nationally and internationally.
  • Close collaboration with the municipality of Esbjerg, Din Forsyning and other partners.
  • Managing information flow and service the companies that want knowledge about possible sites, prices, electricity, supply etc.

Qualitifications

  • You have a strong network and relevant experience within the IT industry
  • You have strong sales skills and would like to gain experience with sales of, for example, fiber infrastructure, data center services etc.
  • You are customer oriented and able to build and maintain customer relationships
  • You have good communicative skills and must be fluent in Danish and English
  • You have an analytical approach to the sales work and you are used to doing marked and feasibility analyses as well as sales material, etc.
  • You have good collaboration skills
  • You are structured and have a sense of crucial details
  • You can work independently and be a natural initiator
  • You are curious and understand new contexts and topics quickly.
